ОглавлениеПеревод текста MY FAMILY AND MYSELF

I am Sergeev Anton. Anton is my first name and Sergeev is my surname. I am 24 years old. I was born on April 8, 1978 in Vladimir. In June 1996 I finished the secondary school and wanted to enter Vladimir State University but failed at the entrance exams. I had to work at the plant as a worker. Then I served in the army in Siberia.
When I came back home I decided to become an engineer. Last year I successfully passed my entrance exams and entered Vladimir State University.
I study at the correspondence department. Now I am a first-year student of the university. I combine work and study and I must say it is not easy but I try to do well at the university.
My family is rather large. There are five persons in it. I have a wife, one child, a father, a mother and a sister. Two years ago I got married. My wife’s name is Nina. She is 22 years old. Last year she graduated from the pedagogical university and now she works at school. She teaches history.
My little daughter was born one year ago. She is a nice child. My father is 52. He is a teacher of physics, he works at school number 10. My mother is 2 years younger than my father. She is a chemist. She works at the laboratory of the plant. I have a sister. She is 26. My sister graduated from Ivanovo medical acaademy and now she works at the regional hospital. She is single.
Our family is very united. In the evenings and on week-ends when we all are at home we talk about our work and life. We also like to watch TV or just to discuss everyday problems.
All of us like to spend our week-ends out of town. We often go to the village to see our grandparents. They are old-aged pensioners now and prefer to live in the country. It is very important to have a good family where all people are tactful and respect each other.

Перевод текста VLADIMIR STATE UNIVERSITY

In 1993 the Vladimir polytechnical Institute (established in 1964) was given the status of a university. At present more than 12 000 students from the Russian Federation and over 300 foreign citizens study at the Vladimir State University which trains engineers in most important branches of industry and economy. The University consists of eight faculties. They are: the Mechanical Technological Faculty, the Faculty of Humanities, Chemistry and Ecology Faculty, a Faculty of Economics, Architecture and Building Faculty, Faculty of Radiophysics, Electronics and Medical Engineering, Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics and Automotive Transport Faculty. Besides the day-time department the University also has evening and correspondence departments for those combining work and study.
The faculties occupy modern buildings. There are large lecture rooms, well-equipped laboratories and workshops at the University. The teaching staff consists of highly qualified specialists: Professors, lecturers and assistants. The departments of the University are equipped with visual aids and technical means of teaching, including films, slides and video tapes. The students have practical training at industrial enterprises in Vladimir and other towns.
There is an excellent library at the University. Thousands of books on different branches of science, technical journals and periodicals are at the disposal of the students. In the large reading halls you can always see students over their books reading up for their seminars and classes. Each academic group consists of 20-25 students. One of the students is a monitor. He is responsible for the discipline, attendance and academic progress of the group.
According to the curriculum students study both general educational and specialized subjects. Twice a year students take examinations. At the end of the course of study the graduates submit diploma projects and take final examinations.
The progress of science and engineering is impossible without a wide exchange of scientific and technical information between countries. Scientific journals, periodicals and foreign copy-righted materials are the main source of information, that is why studying foreign languages is very important for future scientists and engineers. The teaching of foreign languages is paid serious attention to at the Vladimir State University. Students study English, German and French. During their course of study students learn how to speak everyday English, read original literature and speak on professional problems, etc. The graduates of the University can work as engineers, technologists and designers at industrial enterprises, research institutes throughout the country. Students are very thankful to their Alma Mater for giving them professional knowledge, a world outlook and positive start in life.

Перевод Cooling System
The basic parts of a cooling system are:
1. Water pump which forces coolant through engine and other system parts.
2. Radiator hoses to connect engine to radiator.
3. Radiator which transfers engine coolant heat to outside air.
4. Fan which draws air through radiator.
5. Thermostat which controls coolant flow and engine operating temperature.
When the engine is running a fan belt powers the water pump. The water pump forces coolant to circulate through the engine water jackets.
While the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed. This prevents coolant from going to the radiator. Instead, it circulates around inside the engine. This helps warm the engine quickly.
When the engine reaches operating temperature, the thermostat opens. Heated coolant then flows through the radiator. Excess coolant heat is transferred to the air flowing trough the radiator. This maintains a proper engine temperature.
A cooling system has several functions. It must: 1) remove excess heat from the engine; 2) maintain a constant engine operating temperature; 3) increase the temperature of a cold engine as quickly as possible; 4) provide a means for heater operation (warming passenger compartment).
There are two major types of automotive cooling systems: liquid and air. An air cooling system uses large cylinder cooling fins and outside air to remove excess heat from the engine.
The cooling fins increase the surface area of the metal around the cylinder. This allows enough heat to transfer from the cylinder.
An air cooling system commonly uses plastic or sheet metal ducts and shrouds (enclosures) to route air over the cylinder fins.
Thermostatically controlled flaps regulate airflow and engine operating temperature.
A liquid cooling system circulates solution of water and antifreeze through the water jackets. Then the coolant collects excess heat and carries it out of the engine.
A liquid cooling system has several advantages over an air type system:
1. More precise control of engine operating temperature.
2. Less temperature variation inside engine.
3. Reduced exhaust emissions because of better temperature control.
4. Improved heater operation to warm passengers.
