If you want to be a stewardess, a pilot or an air traffic control officer you should learn English, the language of international communication. And how can a shopgirl or a cashier in a big department store understand a foreigner, if she does not know a foreign language? Some years ago a terrible earthquake occurred in Armenia. Several rescue brigades from different countries came to Leninacan to help the victims of this catastrophe. One of the most serious problems they came across was that practically nobody there could understand them. Very few people in Leninacan knew English, German or some other language.
